Aviation Fire Safety forms an essential and inalienable component of wide spectrum of Aviation Safety as a whole. It is universally accepted that Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting is a specialized job to be handled by well trained professional Aviation fire fighters in the event of an emergency response, mitigation, evacution, rescue of passengers & crew of aircraft involved in aviation accidents and incidents with the dawn of the 21st century this work became more complicated and hazardous with the impending introduction of new generation wide bodied, multi-level aircraft which pose fresh challenges to the aviation Rescue and Fire Service personnel. In this context, ICAO emphasized more importance on Global Aviation Safety Plan and it is in the backdrop of this that the initiative for the formation of the Indian Aviation Fire Safety Specialists Group (IAFSSG) took place and was launched in 2002.
